Anglican Diocese of the Trinity (ADOTT) - 2017 Lay Ministers/Evangelists Report
PRESENTED AT THE LEADERSHIP MEETING
HOLDEN ON APRIL 21-23, 2017
VENUE: HOLY TRINITY ANGLICAN CHURCH, HAWTHORNE CA
PREAMBLE: We will continue to thank God for His inestimable love towards us by redeeming us through the death and resurrection of His son Jesus Christ. Unworthy as we are, He also entrusted to us this great ministry of reconciliation.
COMPREHENSIVE LIST MEMBERS: We are pleased to report that the faculty now have a comprehensive list of members with their personal contact email and phone numbers. I thank all the Rectors for their continued co-operation. Some of our members do not have email address and so we use their phone number to reach out to them.
NEW MEMBERS: In recent time we saw growing interest of Church members desiring to be licensed as Lay Ministers/Evangelists within the Diocese. However when we asked them to submit a formal application, they develop cold feet. Sometimes when some decides to write they put a two line application. The Diocesan wishes to see genuine interest and conviction for intending members. Both the application and recommendation of the parish Rector goes a long way in helping the Diocesan form an opinion. Recently Ernest Jumbo Obioma was licensed at Anglican Church of the Redeemer, Regina, SK
TELECONFERENCE MEETING: Our quarterly Diocesan teleconference meeting is witnessing attendance increase by members. We thank the Diocesan, Archdeacons and parish Rectors who are helping in creating a positive awareness. The last meeting we held on April 9, we recorded 19 members in our attendance list. Members from Canada are still finding it difficult to be part of the meeting despite the co-operation and support of Venerable Kay Adebogun.
2017 RETREAT/RENEWAL OF LICENCE:
Plans for a successful Lay Ministers/Evangelists Diocesan Retreat, Rededication and Renewal of Licenses at the Anglican Cathedral Church of Resurrection, Indianapolis on June 16-18, 2017 is on course. Hotel Accommodation is $50 per night and Registration for the program including feeding is $100 per member. The success of getting adequate attendance depends more on our collective efforts in motivating and encouraging these lay workers. It is obvious they will be better equipped to serve as we train them and make them more involved. The saying goes that if one is not informed he is deform. The Diocesan wished that no Lay Minister be absent except on serious issue which must be put in writing by the member forwarded to the Chaplain through the Rector.
CONCLUSION: Once again I thank the Diocesan and all the members of the ADOTT Leadership team for your continued support and interest in the ministry of the Laity in Church particularly in this faculty.
Venerable John I. Onuorah++
