2017 Easter Message for Mid-Atlantic Archdeaconry
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
On behalf of the Diocesan, Bishop Amos & Mama Abike, we bring you Easter greetings. We thank God for yet another Easter in our lives, a pleasant reminder of the joyous hope that brought us the confidence of eternal life, two thousand years ago.
Having paid the ultimate price on the cross of Calvary, little did His disciples imagine that they would ever see Him again with their own eyes; but by divine providence, on the third day, he rose again and shared fellowship with them for another forty days.
Having renewed their faith in Him, removing doubt in Thomas on the eighth day; giving Thomas the opportunity to see and touch His hands and side, Thomas responded, "My Lord and my God." Thereafter, Thomas headed for India, where the Gospel is thriving today in the lives of millions.
Having now been refreshed in this hope eternal life freely given to all who believe in Jesus Christ, let us like Thomas live no longer for ourselves but for Him who lived and died for our sin. Let us endeavor to place priority on eternal reward instead of earthly benefits. Let us desire to go and serve the LORD afresh in the power of the Holy Spirit He has given us.
May this joy, this hope, this confidence be yours today and forever, in the name of Christ. Amen.
