2016 Easter Message to Canada Archdeaconry
Dearly beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Easter Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savoiur Jesus Christ.
I write you on behalf of our Diocesan Rt. Rev Amos Fagbamiye and Mama MDT, Mama Abike Fagbamiye to wish you a happy Easter. May it be a memorable celebration of His life, resurrection, love and power in your life, work, study and family in Jesus’ name.
So many things are dead, inactive, and ineffective in our world today, we need the grace to God to bring all these dead statuses to life. There is confusion in the world, it appears our world is growing more and more atheistic, the thought of resurrection, Faith and Salvation in Christ is becoming alien in our society. Many are rebellious at home and even in the church. Many even question authority in the Church. Submission and respect for constituted authorities is out through the window for some. Terrorist activities as we just witnessed in Brussels, Belgium are on the rise.
All these events are clear indications that we are in the end time and the Scriptures are been fulfilled. In the midst of all these occurrences what a better time to re-echo again and again the power of God unto Salvation in our world - which is the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Christ. The event around us today calls for us to emphasize the resurrection of Christ, our only hope in a confused world.
Without Resurrection, there is no Christianity and no hope. Apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthians says,
But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 1 Corinthians 15:13-19 KJV
This Easter season, think of these things. Our Faith, though tested is more precious than gold. It is of eternal value and cannot be compromised in this challenging time. Our Faith in Christ is real and cannot be redefined by the society. Our Faith is alive and worth dying for now and in the years to come.
As you celebrate this season with friends and family, remember, the reason for the season is Christ who lived, Christ who died, Christ, who resurrected and Christ who will come. Keep your Faith.
We wish you happy Easter. Jesus is Risen! He has Risen indeed; Allelluia!!! In Christ,
Ven Olukayode Adebogun
