2017 Easter Message for Brethren Knights
Brethren Knights, Defenders of the Faith, Blessings...
Today and indeed this Season, marks the Glorious Celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, which essentially reminds us that we are saved from our sins, according to 1 Corith. 15 v1-2. It says ‘’ Now , Brothers, I want to remind you of the Gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.v2 ‘By this Gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the Word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain’.
...And how do we get saved in the first place? The Bible records our Lord Jesus Christ Himself as saying in Luke 24:v45-48’’Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. v46 He told them, “ This is what is written: That Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, v47 and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. v48 You are witnesses of these things’’.
Brethren, this is the task before each one of us that as witnesses, we ought to live our lives to please our Master and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible lists such acts of the flesh that should not be our portion from Gal 5:v19-21 as sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; v20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord ,jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions v21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies and the like. As Elders of our different Congregations , let us always remember the strong admonition of Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:v18 ‘For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the Cross of Christ.’’
As Knights, we ought to show examples as we are being watched. Sadly, some of us do not bother to attend the monthly meetings of the Council of Knights as if the Title of Knighthood was all that we wanted to show the World that we are honorable men and Women. We are Christ’s Ambassadors, which ought to reflect in our day-to-day life.
As Ministers of the New Covenant, Apostle Paul commends us in 2 Corinth 2:v14-17 of the need to always to thank God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the Knowledge of Him. v15 For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. v16 To the one, we are the smell of death,’ to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task? v17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the Word of God for profit. On the contrary; in Christ we speak before God with sincerity like men sent from God.’’
We also wish thank you all for your Support and Sacrifices to the Diocese so far in contributing to the Synod yearly!!!
Brethren, with these Words I wish you all Happy Resurrection, in Jesus Name!!!!
The Ven Paul U. Aduba
Archdeacon for Knights.
