2015 Easter Message to Pacific Archdeaconry
1 Corinthians: 15: 13, 14. However, if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
In this Easter day, Christians everywhere celebrate the resurrection of Christ, one of the fundamental beliefs of the faith.
We live in a wonderful but deeply wounded and wounding world that is at times uncaring, unforgiving, cruel, and devoid of second chances. We constantly hear of endless shootings and other violent acts. Easter offers the assurance that we can overcome the many difficulties and challenges that threaten to overwhelm us. Easter gives all who have suffered pain a sense that we are not on our own and, despite our emotions and feelings, God does understand.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us a glimpse of God’s broken heart. Moreover, the physical suffering of Jesus demonstrating that he understands what it is to feel physical and emotional pain.
The resurrection gives us hope that God’s redemptive plan is all about the restoration of friendship and relationship.
When Jesus was raised from the dead, he got victory over death and the grave. We too who believe in Him will also have victory over death and hell, sin and the grave.
To Nigeria, that has experience a transition to a new democratic government and which in recent times has experienced savage terrorist attacks. May the joy of Easter grant the strength needed to take up anew the building of a society, which is peaceful and respectful of the religious freedom of all its citizens.
As a Church, let us make Christ visible in our communities, by loving God and our neighbor, as well as loving ourselves. Let us go out to where people are and tell them this message of new life, forgiveness, reconciliation and hope, regardless of what they have done in their past.
May the Lord bless you on this auspicious day of Easter, and May it be a new beginning of greater prosperity, success and happiness.
Let the Easter promise uphold us at this time. Wish you a Happy Easter.
